Regional Vice-President

Southeast Area Motor Coach Association

Family Motor Coach Association

 March 23, 2016

Greetings to all North Florida Chapters and Members,

Just getting home from the 93rd Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase in Perry and I can only relay that it was a great success.  About 2400 Family Member Coaches were there to enjoy the events, seminars, coach displays, vendors and shows.  When you add into the mix the vendors and show coaches, we had just shy of 3000 coaches on the property.

Most everyone equates the Perry event with rain, either at the beginning or at the end, which makes folks concerned as we wonder if we’ll need a tow to depart.  Not this year!  While we did have some showers, they were mostly at night and clearing during the days.  Mud holes were not a part of the events and the showers we did have helped to keep the pollen count down, and as most of you know that can be fairly miserable at this time of year.

Among the usual activities, the Southeast Area (S.E.A.) held a special “Meet and Greet” with our members.  It was an opportunity for S.E.A. members to meet with their Executive Board and for the board to be able to say “Thank You” to the Southeast Area folks for not only helping us to host a great rally at Perry, but for supporting us as we have worked hard to reverse the fortunes of S.E.A.  A receiving line met with all the participants and ushered them to a great buffet of refreshments and hor d’oeuvres.

In addition, our annual business meeting was conducted at Perry, on Sunday, March 20.  The Board of Governors approved the site selection and dates for the S.E.A. 2017 rally that will be held at the Lakeland Airport using the “Sun ‘N Fun” facilities, February 2 – 5, 2017.  Your Executive Board is now very busy as we plan that event and look forward to another great S.E.A. rally.  Keep an eye-out for those announcements and details as they begin to be made available on the FMCA Website and magazine, Family Motor Coaching.

We now must also begin to look forward to the calendar and opportunities that might be available.  Ms. Ann and I have enjoyed many opportunities to visit with some great chapters and people of the North Florida Region.  But there are some folks we’d love to see and share some time.  The following chapters are still on our list to visit, and we hope an opportunity will be available for those visits during this last year of my tenure in office:

The Monaco Travelers   The South East Cruisers

Mt. Olive Shores North  Airstream Southeast and Friends

Northeast Florida Campers RV Club

Please let us know if you are planning a rally and would like to have your regional Vice-President participate or just spend some time with your chapter and members.  We’d love to share ideas and thoughts with some of the nicest people we know and want to provide to you the best possible representation with the Executive Board of the Southeast Area.  When we visit it is for your benefit.  It is not my job to tell you what you are doing right or wrong.  It is, however, my job to be available to you for interaction and to answer any questions or concerns you might have.  We look forward to all these visits and will enjoy the ability to let you tell us how you feel.

In closing, if you have not yet experienced a national event, such as the one we just finished in Perry, Ms. Ann and I encourage your participation and, if you’re so inclined, your volunteering to help make such events a success.  You’ll meet some great people and enjoy some great opportunities to learn more about our common interests.  In addition, should you feel inclined to volunteer your services, you’ll help us to continue a tradition of providing some fantastic venues for Family Motor Coaching.

We look forward to once again having our paths cross in the name of “Having Fun”.  Enjoy your friends, family and especially enjoy the ability to see this wonderful country of ours.  Every turn of the highway provides a new vista that will create memories that are beyond belief.

Fraternally Yours,

Doug and Ann Pearson
